Discover Norway's saunas through the official Norwegian Sauna Map

Soria Moria Sauna in Dalen, Telemark. One of Norway’s most iconic saunas.

When you’re coming to Oslo for the International Sauna Congress in September, don't just come for the Congress — come for the country.

Norway has one of the world's most breathtaking landscapes. Dramatic fjords cut deep into the mountains, remote islands rise from the sea, and quiet valleys stretch far into the wilderness. And tucked into this extraordinary scenery, you'll find saunas. Lots of them.

Norwegian sauna culture has exploded in recent years, and today you can sweat it out on floating rafts on the fjords, in timber cabins perched above mountain lakes, on wave-battered island shores, and along riverbanks deep in the valleys. Few things in life beat stepping out of a hot sauna and straight into a cold Norwegian fjord with a mountain wall towering above you.

Find saunas all over Norway, with the official Norwegian Sauna Map.

To help you explore, the Norwegian Sauna Society has built an interactive sauna map featuring sauna operators the length and breadth of the country. From urban saunas in Oslo to hidden gems on remote islands and deep in the fjords, Badstukartet is your gateway to experiencing Norway the way it was meant to be experienced.

In Badstukartet, you’ll find everything you need to know: How to get to the saunas, and how to book your experience. You might even find that the sauna operator has set up a special event.

September is the perfect time to travel. The summer crowds are gone, the mountains glow in autumn colours, and the fjords are as cold and clear as ever. Extend your trip, rent a car, and let the sauna map lead the way.

Norway is ready. Are you?

PS: Stay tuned! Soon we are launching the official pre and post congress sauna journeys around Norway that you can sign up for!

PPS: The official Norwegian Sauna Map is based on the platform Places.nu. Places is also collaborating with SaunaTimes, to provide the Sauna Circuit Map – a living map of communal heat. To create your own, collaborative community sauna map, get in touch with Places founder Levi Westerveld via levi@places.nu, or simply meet him at ISC26 in Oslo in September.
